All cocktail parties deserve a signature cocktail.  However, there is a special place for the Basil Lillet Slush reserved on a hot sunny weekend afternoon.

Lillet is a French liqueur made from a combination of white wine and citrus liqueur.  When combined with the fragrant basil and ice, it turns into a truly special cocktail to share with friends.

Basil Lillet SlushIngredients

1 teaspoon sugar
Coarse salt
5 medium basil leaves
2 ounces Lillet Blanc
1 ounce vodka
2 tablespoons simple syrup
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup ice cubes
Garnish: basil sprig

Directions

  1. Mix together sugar and 1 teaspoon salt on a small plate or saucer. Wet the outside rim of a chilled wineglass with water. Holding glass by the stem, rotate rim in sugar-salt mixture to coat.

  2. Puree basil leaves, Lillet Blanc, vodka, simple syrup, lemon juice, and ice in a blender until smooth. Pour into prepared glass, and garnish with basil sprig.
